6 people murdered - Strange Occurrences - What Happened to the Gruber Family?

In a small farm in Germany in 1922, six members of the same family had their lives brutally cut short. Andreas 63, his wife Cazilia 72, their daughter Viktoria 35 and her two children Cazilla 7 and Josef 2, were found dead alongside their maid Maria Baumgartner 44. Maria had just arrived that day as the previous maid had left due to believing the farm was possessed by demons. A few days prior to his murder Andreas had mentioned to his neighbor that he had found human footprints in the snow leading away from his house and into the nearby forest, also he had found a newspaper that was unfamiliar to him on the property.

Also Andreas had been hearing footsteps in his attic, and also a few days prior to the murder his house keys had disappeared. Whoever had murdered the Grubers managed to get four of the family members into the barn and kill them with an axe handle, moving then onto the main house killing the maid and Viktoria's two year old son. The police were baffled by the murders and had no suspects and the crime remains unsolved to this day.

So who killed the Grubers?

I believe that the Grubers were killed by someone stalking them, someone who staked out the house and the lay of the land before striking. I believe this individual took the house key and made himself at home in the attic, which co-insides with Andreas hearing footsteps in his attic. I believe this person did not know the Grubers personally, but was a opportunist psychopath taking advantage of the remoteness and convenient woodland nearby that he could hide in.
