The Murder of Jill Dando - Gangland Hit? Beloved TV Presenter Slain

Jill Dando (1961-1999) was a presenter on the show Crimewatch, she was murdered on the doorstep of her home in London by an unknown assailant by a gunshot to the head. Jill's murder was the biggest investigation the Metropolitan Police had undertaken since the Yorkshire Ripper.

Police quickly arrested Barry George for her murder, a local man with several personality disorders, Barry was sentenced to life in prison for Jill's murder, however was acquitted in 2008, when it was established forensics did not match up with samples taken from the scene. Barry won a substantial amount of damages from the press for slanderous lies made against him.

My Thoughts

I believe Jill was murdered by someone connected to a crime she was close to exposing. Jill was investigating a possible pedophile ring at the BBC in the 90's and I believe she was getting too close to exposing them and was murdered because of it. The murderer would have been a professional and probably high up in the criminal world.
