The Mysterious Disappearance of Flight 19 - Fourteen Souls Lost

In 1945 Flight 19 was on an overwater training flight and mysteriously disappeared over The Bermuda Triangle, no trace of the flight has ever been found. Fourteen souls were lost that night here are their stories.



1. Lt Charles Carrol Taylor (1917-1945)




Charles was born in Texas, initially Charles was found guilty of 'Mental Aberration'. His mother was successful in getting him exonerated by conducting her own investigation. Charles was only 28.


2. Gunner George Francis Delvin (1928-1945)




George was born in New York and could not wait to be apart of the war effort. George was in process of a name change when he disappeared in the triangle, he was only 17.


3.Raido Man Walter Reed Parpart (1927-1945)




Walter begged his father to sign him up to the Navy. He was one of the youngest to disappear on Flight 19. He was only 18.


4. Cpt Edward Joseph Powers (1919-1945)



Edward was born in New York and soon enlisted in the Marine Corp, Edward was the only married man and father aboard the flight, his wife reportedly had a premonition before she found out her husband disappeared. He was only 26.


5. Gunner SGT Howell Orin Thompson (1925-1945)




Howell was born in Illinois, he hoped to be home for Christmas when he disappeared. He was only 20.


6. Radio Sgt. George Richard Paonessa (1917-1945)




George was born in New York, and was one of eight children. His family received a telegram stating he was alive and well after he disappeared, however this turned out to be a cruel hoax. He was 28.


7. 2nd Lt. Forrest James Gerber (1921-1945)




Forrest was born in Minnesota and joined the marines just after Pearl Harbor. He was 24 when he disappeared.


8. PFC. William Earl Lightfoot (1926-1945)



William came from a very long line of military men, his brother had died a year earlier after his plane was shot down. William was only 19.


9.Ensign Joseph Tipton Bossi, (1924-1945)



Joseph was born in Kansas, and enjoyed being in the navy, he was only 20 when he disappeared along with 13 others.


10. Gunner Herman Arthur Thelander (1926-1945)




Herman was born in Minnesota, and transferred several times during his service before he ended up at Fort Lauderdale. Herman was only 19.


11. Burt Edward Baluk (1926-1945)



Bert was born in New Jersey, he has a memorial brick at Fort Lauderdale, where the fight departed from and was never seen again. Bert was only 19.


12. Capt. George William Stivers Jr. (1920-1945)




George was born in Missouri, he had only recently earned his wings when he disappeared in the triangle he was only 25.


13. Gunner Sgt. Robert Francis Gallivan (1924-1945)




Robert was born in Massachusetts, he was the oldest of two children. He was due to be discharged from the military before his disappearance. He was only 21.


14. Pvt. Robert Peter Gruebel (1927-1945)



Robert was born in New York, and was only 18 when he vanished. He transferred several times before he found himself at Fort Lauderdale. He disappeared with 13 others over the Bermuda Triangle, no trace of the planes have ever been found and the disappearance of Flight 19 remains one of the worlds most baffling mysteries.
