Darlie Routier -Murderer or Victim?

Darlie Routier was married to her husband Darin, with whom she had three sons, six year old Devon, five year old Damon and 7 month old Drake. On June the 6th 1996, Devon and Damon had their lives tragically cut short when they were stabbed to death by a alleged intruder in their home, while their younger brother and father were asleep upstairs.

According to Darlie, while she was asleep on the couch an intruder broke in and cut her throat and arms and stabbed the two boys to death with a large kitchen knife while they were watching tv and fled through the garage. The police were baffled as to how Darlie, not to mention her husband upstairs had slept through two violent murders and sustained neck and arm injuries.

Police found that the kitchen door had been broken from the outside, however found no traces of blood leading out of the garage. Allegedly Darlie was in debt and police used this as the motive for her sons murders, they charged her with Damon's murder and she was sentenced to death by lethal injection. Darlie is still there till this day, her and her husband are now divorced and he believes in her innocence. I have no idea why she was only charged with one murder.

Darlie's story falls apart in two major ways, if there was an intruder why did the children not cry out waking their father? How on earth did Darlie sleep through being cut with a large kitchen knife?

My Opinion

I believe Darlie did kill her children, what I can't seem to work out is her motive. Money does not sit well with me as a motive. I believe Darlie's injuries were self inflicted and the crime scene staged, there was no intruder. Just a sick individual who stabbed her two children to death, their deaths were slow and horrific and I hope this woman soon sees the justice she so richly deserves courtesy of the state of Texas.
