An epidemic is sweeping Britain with today's young people...knife crime. Knives are readily available in our homes, online, in our places of work, and for sale in our local shops. Just about anywhere at anytime you can gain access to a knife. Young people today, instead of using words or reason work out their differences with each other or "beef", with a knife. In the UK in the years 2018/19 the police recorded 44 thousand incidents of knife crime (Parliment.co.uk). Whether the victims of knife crime loose their lives or live to tell the tale, their lives and the lives of the people around them are deeply affected. More education on Knife Crime and it's consequences need to be included in the UK educational system. Young people need to be taught from an early age if we as a socitey hope to curb the growing knife problem.
Why are knifes readily available in our shops for young people to access? Beacuse our government hasn't and needs to,put into place tougher laws when it comes to being able to purchase a knife.
What can be done? A list of possible solutions.
What about in my home? Put knifes in a place not so readily accessible and easy to grab at a moments notice.
How about online? As with many other things that can be bought online, i belive ID restrictions need to be put into place and not be able to buy at the click of a button anytime anywhere.
So what about at work? Again maybe not in an accessible place for young people to get their hands on when in that environment.
What about in my local shop? Anyone who is aged under the age of 25 in my opinion should not be able to buy a knife. Id restrictions again need to be enforced to combat the growing number of knife related incidents.
