The Columbine Massacre

The Columbine Shooting took place in 1999, Eric Harris aged 18 and Dylan Klebold aged 17, murdered 13 people at their high school in Columbine, Colorado. They both committed suicide in the school library afterwards. Here are the stories of the victims.

1. Rachel Scott (1982-1999) Aged 17

Rachel was the first victim of the massacre, she was shot four times by Eric, while eating lunch with her friend on the lawn outside the school. Her friend survived, but is now paralysed for life.

2. Daniel Rohrbough (1984-1999) Aged 15

Dan was coming out of the cafeteria with two of his friends when he was shot by Dylan. Paramedics waited two days to retrieve his body after he was murdered, his two friends survied but are still haunted by their friends murder.

3.Dave Sanders (1952-1999) Aged 45

Dave had been teaching at Columbine for 25 years, Dave saved countless lives by directing students away from the shootings. Dave was shot in the back and killed by both Eric and Dylan. He left behind his wife, four children and five grandchildren.

4. Kyle Velasquez (1983-1999) Aged 16

Kyle was murdered in the library at the computer desks, Dylan killed him, as Kyle attempted to hide under the computer desk. Kyle planned to serve in the military after graduation.

5. Steven Cunrnow (1985-1999) Aged 14

Steven was the youngest victim of the massacre, Steven was shot in the neck by Eric and died hiding under the computer tables in the library. His father cried for 19 days straight about his sons murder.

6. Cassie Bernall (1982-1999) Aged 17

Cassie was shot in the head by Eric, who shouted "Boo" before shooting her. Her family wee not informed of her murder until two days after the massacre.

7. Isaiah Shoels (1981-1999) Aged 18

Isaiah was in the library with two of his friends when he was jointly murdered by Eric and Dylan who shouted racial slurs at him. Isaiah's friend Matt who was also hiding with him was also killed but his friend Craig survived by playing dead in his friend's blood.

8. Matthew Kechter (1983-1999) Aged 16

Matthew was hiding under the table in the library with Isaiah and Craig, he was murdered by Dylan. Only Craig got out from under that table alive.

9. Lauren Townsend (1981-1999) Aged 18

Lauren was murdered by Dylan and then shot again by Eric when she was already dead. Out of all the victims Lauren was shot the most, but the reasoning behind this was unknown.

10. John Tomlin (1982-1999) Aged 17

John was shot by Dylan and Eric in the library. John did not die alone, he was under the table with a girl he did not know, who was shot in the abdomen but survivied.

11. Kelly Fleming (1983-1999) Aged 16

Kelly was shot in the back by Eric. Kelly enjoyed reading and writing poetry. Her body was found alongside another victim Lauren Townsend.

12. Daniel Mauser (1984-1999) Aged 15

Daniel attempted to knock Eric over with a chair before Eric murdered him. Daniel was a straight A student who enjoyed Maths and Science. He was described as shy but gentle

13. Corey Depooter (1982-1999) Aged 17

Corey was shot three times Dylan and was the last victim of the senseless massacre. After they were done Dylan and Eric proceded to the library to take their own lives.

The massacre sparked gun debates, however nothing has since changed in regards to gun laws. In the words of an Texan i once met "You can take my gun out of my cold dead hands."
