Robert Black - Scottish Child Killer

Robert Black was a Scottish Serial Killer who murdered children. He was sentenced to life in prision for his crimes and died of a Heart Attack in 2016 Aged 68.

Black killed four children between the ages of 5 and 11 over a period of 6 years. Here is a little bit more about them.

Jennifer Cardy (1972-1981) Aged 9

Jennifer was last seen by her mother riding her bike to her friends house, she never arrived. She was abducted by Black and sexually assaulted and murdered. Her abandoned bike was found less than a mile from her home covered in leaves. It is suggested that she talked to Black before he abducted her, she was drowned and strangled by Black.

Susan Maxwell (1971-1982) Aged 11

Susan was taken by Black as she was walking home from a tennis match, she was found dead in a field covered by leaves. Black had sexually assaulted her before murdering her. The coroner deduced that Susan had died shortly after being abducted by Black.

Caroline Hogg (1979-1983) Aged 5

Caroline was Black's youngest known victim. She disappeared outside her home and was last seen talking to a man on the promenade looking very frightened. Caroline remained Black's prisoner at the back of his van for at least 24 hours. Caroline's naked body was found 310 miles from her home next to the A1. Her exact cause of death could not be determined due to decomposition, however it is thought her death was sexually motivated due to her naked body.

Sarah Harper (1976-1986) Aged 10

Sarah disappeared from Leeds after going to buy a loaf of bread. She was last seen walking back home but she never arrived. Sarah's bound and gagged naked body was discovered in the River Trent. Her autopsy showed she had died 8-12 hours after she was last seen alive.

Black is suspected of murdering many more poor innocent children. Police believe they can link at least 13 more children's deaths to Black.
